President’s Voice – April 2025
Hello BARW Community!
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar was recently confirmed to be the next Texas A&M Chancellor. Railroad Commissioner, Christi Craddick and former State Senator, Don Huffines have answered the call in this race (so far).
Senator John Cornyn is being primaried and his name is Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton. The gloves are off, and the mud is slinging. Will other contenders emerge? Does this now open a vacancy for the AG’s office? Who are the noteworthy candidates willing to compete for the AG’s seat? If it’s a Legislator or another Senator, who files for their seat? This could mean a lot of contentious races in Texas. Just some food for thought.
We have local races here in the Clear Creek Independent School District (AtLarge and District 1 positions). Pasadena Independent School District has board positions, the mayor and others.
Given these mentioned races, I have been entertaining the thought of term limits. 24 years is a long time and so is 32 years in one position. Voters should clearly review objectively these and the upcoming 2026 primary races. Is your candidate still effective? Is your candidate innovative and ready to reach out and fight for the values of the people of Texas and the nation?
