Voice of the President – May 2020
The Beginning of a New Normal
There have been a lot of controversial issues since the President gave the flag to start re-opening. Testing has been the front runner to identifying the spread of the coronavirus. Texas has increased their testing sites and numbers of those being tested. Dr. Anthony Fauci testified during a Senate hearing on the pandemic. He claims that opening too soon “could turn the clock back”. This could cause “some suffering and death that could be avoided but could even set us back on the road in trying to get economic recovery”. With that said we must remain cautious in following the CDC guidelines of social distancing and washing our hands.
BARW will NOT be meeting at the Bay Oaks Country Club for our breakfast meeting this month on Tuesday, May 26th . Instead we will have a Uberconference on Tuesday, May 26th at 7 p.m. with U.S. Representative Brian Babin. Representative Babin will be giving us a COVID-19 update. The invitation for the meeting will be sent out to Members Only by Peter Lauzon. Pete has been kind enough to let us use his Uberconference account. BE SURE TO RSVP WHEN YOU RECEIVE THE INVITE.
We have posted in this newsletter the various groups that are providing trainings and events to get out the vote. Please check training dates for TFRW, NFRW and RPT. Choose those that are applicable to you. Our TFRW President, Glynis Chester has challenged all of the clubs to work on increasing our memberships. According to Glynis the California Federation has challenged TFRW to a friendly competition to “reclaim” the distinction of the largest State membership in NFRW. The Lone Star State presently holds that prestigious position. Let’s do all we can to keep
it in spite of COVID-19.
Our 1st VP of Membership, Susan Franklin has expended herself getting our membership information together. She is presently taking care of family affairs after the passing of her husband and now it’s time for us to pick up the torch.
GOD BLESS!
