President’s Voice – April 2024
Hello BARW!
April is when spring blankets the state. Vibrant colors, and the weather is spectacular. Spring is when we begin planning our summer vacations and begin those long-awaited projects. Most importantly, we share in the spirit of Easter joy and the blessings of the resurrection.
A rematch between President Trump & President Biden is now underway. On March 12, President Trump secured the delegates necessary to clinch the Republican presidential nomination to reclaim the White House this November. All 161 Republican Delegates from Texas awarded Trump, the winner of statewide primary. When he wins in November, he will be the only second commander-in-chief to win two nonconsecutive terms. The first was Grover Cleveland, America’s 22nd and 24th president.
I am looking forward to our State Republican Convention to be held in San Antonio in May as a delegate. If you have never attended a state convention, I highly recommend you go plus San Antonio is a great place to visit. Guests are welcome. As a delegate, I will have an opportunity to testify before the committees on issues I care about, vote on the party platform and rules. One great part of the Convention is getting the chance to vote on who will be our next State Chair, State Vice-chair, State Republican Committeeman and Committeewoman and elect the National Committeeman and Committeewoman, along with electing the National Delegates, and Electors. That is a lot to vote on!
In 2020, I was the elector nominated for Congressional District 36. As a Presidential Elector, I had to pledge to vote for the Republican Party’s nominee for President and Vice President at the Electoral College meeting held in December of 2020 in Austin. It was very exciting for me and my family to attend even though at that time the recommended health protocols issued by federal and state officials limited our experience of such an amazing privilege and honor. Who knows, maybe I will get the opportunity to do it a second time around.
Enjoy your week. We hope to see you on Tuesday, April 23rd for our next BARW General Meeting. Our guest speaker is 14th Court of Appeals, Justice Ken Wise. Judge Wise is an avid Texas historian. He hosts the Texas history podcast “Wise about Texas,” which has over 320,000 listeners in 105 countries worldwide. You’ll learn more about Texas history and a lot of Texas history you don’t know.
Get those RSVP’s in by Friday, April 19th @ barw.rsvp@gmail.com.
